The polymer and the liquid crystals are encapsulated in the glass. Both faces of the glass are covered with a transparent, ITO coating. Both ITO coatings are connected to a flat electrical bus bar, which is fixed on one of the edges of the glass.
When power is on, the liquid crystals align and the direct visible light is transmitted through the SUPER-CLEAR Film and the glass turns clear.
When the SUPER-CLEAR Film is switched off from its power supply, the liquid crystals are randomly scattered and diffuse light in all directions. In this state the smart film is translucent and prevents both sides from seeing through the film.
Smart glass is made by laminating electrochromic film between two pieces of glass with the intensity up to the national safety glass standard (GB9962-1999). When power off, incoming visible light scatters through and the glass turns translucent: when power on, the incoming visible light transmits the STG and the glass turns clear. STG can prevent infrared light, ultraviolet and noise-proof, energy-saving and environmental friendly.
